So another livestock vessel is heading to Ireland. Another batch of cattle will be sent on a long, gruelling sea journey to a country with appalling standards by their heartless owners - let down by the farming sector and by our government. All the people involved in this industry and supporting it should stop pretending they care about animal welfare. At least be honest. You care about profit, nothing else.

How entitled are these people? Brittany Ferries is a private company, our TDs cannot dictate to them how they operate. It's time we followed the UK and completely moved away from this outdated and cruel industry. We are an island, we are not connected to mainland Europe and there is nothing that can be done about that. We cannot compromise animal welfare.
