The Sarah M hasn't gone very far. Winds are still force 6. The Sarah M is less than 90m long, which means that under Irish law she is not permitted to leave when winds of force 6 or above are predicted. But this rule is breached time and time again.
It must be horrendous for those poor animals on board, especially the pregnant heifers. They are used to grazing in green fields, not crossing choppy seas in a 47 year old boat....

Truck after truck headed down to Port of Waterford all throughout the day. This shipment is going to Algeria - bulls and pregnant dairy heifers to boost their dairy industry. They won't be needing to import dairy from Ireland any more. Dairy farmers can thank the exporters for this loss of market. And they can thank exporters for the shortage of replacement heifers. Exporters aren't doing this to be kind to farmers, they are doing this for money. Farmers are also selling to exporters, betraying their animals, for a few extra euro. Algeria has appalling standards, I'm getting sick of repeating myself here. These animals will be face a brutal shackle and hoist slaughter. They will also suffer during the 5 day sea journey. The Sarah is leaving port now, and the seas are pretty choppy out there.

🚢 Livestock vessel Sarah M loaded with bulls and pregnant dairy heifers today at Port of Waterford 🐮
It has just left. It's very windy and this is a very old vessel and not very large. It is not permitted to depart when winds are 6 or above on the beaufort scale, which they currently are. This is going to be a choppy journey for vulnerable animals. Pregnant cows can be exported up to 90% pregnancy, which is shocking. Hay is open to the elements as usual #StopLiveExports

🚨 Despite hiding it's destination we know the Sarah M is on the way to Port of Waterford to collect cattle for North Africa 🐮 🛳
The Alondra is currently docked in Lisbon and the port schedule says it will be departing for Foynes port in a few days. So there are two shipments pending. Shame on all the farmers who knowingly sell their animals to exporters. Shame on the exporters who are profiting on the back of cruelty and suffering with no regard for animal welfare #stopliveexport #ireland #animalcruelty
