Horrendous cruelty and suffering exposed again. Nothing will happen because this is standard practice in factory farms. This is the reality behind Bord Bia Quality Assured.
No animal deserves this treatment but pigs are especially clever, inqusitive, sociable animals - very similar to dogs. If we must farm animals for food (which we actually don't have to) then we MUST do better!

Some of our long-term followers will remember the livestock vessel Atlantic M. It was a frequent visitor to Irish ports until it was placed under detention in Waterford in 2020, and DAFM revoked its Certificate of Approval. As often happens with problematic ships, it changed its name a couple of times, and is now known as Express M. The name might have changed, but the ship is still a problem - it got detained on other occasions (including a 4 week detention in Portugal between December 2024 and January 2025). Israel Against Live Shipments (FFA) was the first to notice that it seemed to be in trouble yet again while sailing recently between Romania and Israel. We subsequently contacted the Romanian authorities who informed us that the engine had broken down. We observed the ship go to anchor multiple times and it effectively limped at a very slow speed all the way to Israel. A journey that should have taken no more than 6 days ended up taking 15 days. Israel Against Live Shipments (FFA) waited at Haifa port and observed the unloaded animals, many of whom were absolutely caked in manure.
