Ethical Farming Ireland is running an information awareness campaign in conjunction with My Lovely Pig Rescue to highlight the appalling conditions pigs in Ireland are forced to endure, hidden out of sight in factories. There are over 1.6 million pigs here, but where are they all? The pig industry is very secretive with false images constantly being used to represent the sector, such as the image above showing pigs in woodland, their natural habitat. Even official publications by Bord Bia, Teagasc and the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine depict scenes of pigs outside or on lovely straw beds that are far from the reality.

We need funding for social media ads and billboards as well as lobbying the industry and the authorities to improve conditions for pigs.

We have been gifted some high value vouchers for the amazing Monat hotel and spa in Enniscorthy, Wexford as well as a one-off large knitted tea cosy by the fabulous Pauline McLynn aka Father Ted’s Mrs Doyle, a children’s book about a young boy and his piglet friend Honky and a family pass to Kilruddery House.
