Live Export Lobbying Campaign
150,000 tiny calves and 30,000 young bulls exported every year need our help!
Join our live export lobbying campaign of elected representatives across the twenty-six counties.
It won’t take up much of your time, and it could have a big impact.
All you have to do is make one phone call once a week to a different TD in your area. Express your concerns and your views on the live export trade. Ask your TD to speak to his/her party leader and to the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConologue, about the matter.
When you run out of TDs, your next call will be to the Minister McConologue, followed by the leaders of the three largest political parties: Fianna Fail, Fine Gael, Sinn Fein.
Once you’ve made a phone call, and spoken to someone, follow it up with an email. Always follow up with an email.
And that’s your job done!
EFI has over 4,000 Facebook and Twitter followers. If 10% of these supporters volunteer to make, let’s say six phone calls and send six emails over a six-week period, that’s 2,400 direct contacts with elected representatives. That’s a lot of lobbying. It’s also effective lobbying, because in Ireland, as you know, all politics is local.
THIS WILL ONLY WORK IF WE GET THE NUMBERS! If we don’t make a lot of noise nothing will change. So it’s up to you.
WILL YOU JOIN US? We will be holding meetings next week where you will be provided with all the information you need, plus any training and advice that will help you help farm animals. If you cannot attend any of the meetings but would like to join the campaign please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will send you all the relevant information.
We want to have this up and running at the beginning of May. Let’s get lobbying!
